Minor Outage - March 4th 2010 PDF Print E-mail

Thursday, 04 March 2010 15:55

It seems we suffered a very uncommon outage from 3:17 to 3:47 Pm CT that caused the server to lose all connectivity, our provider reseated the network connection and the server came back online promptly.

Web Server & PHP Security Changes - Feb 21 CDT PDF Print E-mail

Sunday, 21 February 2010 20:35

We have recently made changes to the way Apache and PHP handle security, if all goes well it should not restrict any (if all) legitiment web traffic as opposed to what we have experienced in the past with the use of ModSecurity. At present we are only using a minimal amount of rules from ModSecurity and have focused security entirely at the Perl and PHP level but at the same time with minimal interference (if any).

I am pleased to announce that during a period of thirty days or more we have successfully were able to sustain a constant burst of 1 to 70 Mbps of in and outgoing bandwidth without any noticeable degraded performance (caused by server side) and the server handled the traffic perfectly without a hitch.

Thanks for Choosing The-IRC Hosting!

Web Server Outage - Feb 6th PDF Print E-mail

Sunday, 07 February 2010 13:52

We had approximately a 17 hour web server outage from 1 Am to 6:30 Pm CT, the problem was caused by some sort of filtering by our Provider. While it took sometime to dispute the matter with them as the problem did not affect internal datacenter traffic.

PHP ShortTag Support PDF Print E-mail

Tuesday, 26 January 2010 16:41

It seems a few websites were affected today from removing Short Tag Support from PHP, this was in no way a intended result and we were unaware anyone was still requiring support for this feature. The issue has been resolved by turning support back on and any client that is still experiencing problems please let us know and we will work to correct any problems you may have.

Service Update - Jan 26th PDF Print E-mail

Tuesday, 26 January 2010 02:42

In the last twenty four hours we have had minor outages affecting Webserver but for the most of the day we were having issues with a PHP Module IonCube while under PHP5.3. While it caused no issues for any site that did not require it, it did in fact cause our Billing System to go off-line for most of the day. We have worked with IonCube and have discovered that their IonCube Loaders for PHP5.3 may be incompatible due-to they were compiled for FBSD7, however PHP5.2 for FBSD7 works fine and therefore we have to wait a few days for them to release support for FBSD8 in order to upgrade to PHP5.3 successfully.

We have discovered an issue while using Firefox with PHP Pages that require cookies, if you are unable to login to our Billing System or any PHP Site hosted by us you are urged to clear your cookies for all sites affected and then attempt to login at which point you should encounter no issue.

It was truly distasteful for all involved that we had a huge outage during the New Year, however we were able to swiftly get things back on track as fast as possible and at the same time take advantage of the situation to upgrade the OS to FBSD8 and since then we have gained tenfold increase in server and network throughput performance.

Once we got the server fully setup we did have two additional outages and the first outage was just hours after account restoration began, plus another was on Sunday January 10th. These issues were not the result of software or hardware problems with the server but a minor mistake on the Data Centers part by having the power plug for the server not all the way in and anyone that was working by the power plug caused an outage.

I would like to take this time to assure you that we are doing everything in our power to keep things stable and our number one priority is server performance and security to maximize the scalability of the server.

If you have any major concerns, dislikes of the service or even if you plan to cancel down the road or right away because of the quality of service in the past, please contact us first and we will do our best to address your concerns and to resolve any issues you may have.
